FAQ’s

What kind of energy do we have in our body?

Much the way a light bulb is powered by electricity, so too are our bodies powered by energy. Our bodies contain electricity-like energy as well as a myriad of other more gentle and pervasive forms energy.

We contain 7 reservoirs of energy, situated from the base of our tailbone to the top of our skull, called “Chakras” meaning “wheel” or “disk”.  “The Chakra system originated in India, more than four thousand years ago. Chakras were referred to in the ancient literature of the Vedas…and most thoroughly in the sixteenth century by an Indian yogi in a text called the Sat-Chakra-Narupana.”1 Chakras are the filter through which the Universal energy comes into the physical body, giving it life and vitality. They correspond to physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual states and radiate outward in a conical shape. We also have “rivers of energy”, called nadis and meridians, along which energy flows.

People also have a multi-layered energy field around their body, popularly known as an aura. In the average person, it extends anywhere from 1 inch to 6 feet off the perimeter of the body.

What happens during a treatment session?

A typical session takes approximately one hour. The first session is longer in order to complete an initial assessment and to set health goals.  Each session we open by talking about your health and what brings you for a session.  Through a series of questions we set a focus or intention for your healing. Next you will lie down on a massage table (sometimes treatments are done sitting in a chair), fully clothed and covered with a blanket.

With your permission, I use gentle touch, placing my hands on or around your body.  I can also work in your energy field off the body, (i.e. without touching the body) to help the energy within and around the body become more balanced and to meet the healing goals set at the beginning of the treatment.

Afterwards, time is allotted for you to rest on the table. This helps your body assimilate the healing energy. When you get up, we will have a short debrief of what was experienced. During this time we clarify any wisdom that arose for you during the session.  From this, we discuss strategies and holistic therapies that can also assist you in reaching your health goals. Making sure you feel grounded and clear, the session is over for the day.

How is Energy healing different from massage?

Energy healing differs from massage in that there is no muscle manipulation. Energy healing does not press, or push into the body. It allows the energy to do the work. Though it is as relaxing as massage, healing with energy enters deeply into the body with energy, not with fingers.

How do I know that Energy healing can work for me?

For Energy healing to work, only an open mind is needed. The more open and in line with the process you are, the greater the effects will be.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments depends on the type and severity of the concern and your overall health goals.  People heal at different rates and bring different focuses to the treatments, making how many treatments a very individual matter. Many people start to experience changes after only one session.  Other people use on-going sessions as “tune-ups”, focusing on continued wellness.
